St. Supéry Estate Named Winery of the Year by Wine & Spirits Magazine

by St. Supery on September 20, 2012

All of us at St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery are honored to be recognized by Wine & Spirits Magazine as one of their Top 100 Wineries of 2012. That means that out of the more than 10,000 domestic and international wines the Wine & Spirits Magazine’s panel and critics have tasted over the course of the year, St. Supéry Estate’s entire range of wines stood out as top quality wines.

When winemaker Michael Scholz returned to his position as winemaker in 2009, he brought with him a tremendous amount of knowledge gained from an 8 year sabbatical where he honed his winemaking techniques in a number of different wine growing regions. He combined his expansion in knowledge with his previous history with the Rutherford and Dollarhide vineyards to lead the charge to make the very best wines possible and to continue to improve them year after year. His first step was to make substantial improvements in our cellar, culminating with the completion of our new small lot “winery within the winery”’ prior to the 2010 harvest. His extraordinary attention to detail in the vineyard and in his winemaking is resulting in wines that we believe are the best we have made to date. This recognition from Wine & Spirits is a wonderful reflection of the hard work and focus on quality our vineyard and winemaking teams have employed over the last several years.

It is an honor to be recognized by Wine & Spirits editor, Joshua Greene, and his team who also awarded three of our estate wines 90+ scores in 2012. This year has been a great one, so far, for St. Supery Estate’s wines and wine critics’ opinions. See additional 90+ point scores on a range of our wines below:
