Michael Beck & Michael Tompkins: Contemporary Still Life Paintings

September 7 - November 6, 2011

Renowned San Francisco Bay Area artists, Michael Beck & Michael Tompkins, are being featured in a new show in the St. Supéry Estate Vineyards & Winery Art Gallery. The paintings feature ordinary objects in illogical yet often metaphoric juxtapositions that ask the viewer see them in a new light.

Mr. Beck chooses objects that "are ordinary, out-dated remnants … [that] invite flights of fantasy, stories designed by the individual viewer." Mr. Tompkins describes his oil paintings as ambiguous narratives that convey the sense of a 'continuous moment,' an infinite moment that stretches out for us to contemplate."

Robert Skalli, owner of St. Supéry and patron of contemporary art, stated: "I believe that fine art is the perfect marriage to great wines. We are thrilled to be partnering with the Paul Thiebaud Gallery to bring the works of these outstanding artists to the Napa Valley."

The exhibit coincides with the "Napa Valley Arts in October". To learn more, contact Legendary Napa Valley at or the Napa Valley Arts Council at .
