Vive la Pétanque!

Last August St Supéry inaugurated the beautiful new French Parc in front of the winery.
One of the most popular attractions that day was the game of “Pétanque” So, it was decided that the Pétanque set would be readily available to all visitors that come to the winery.
Indeed, it has been a success; just about everyday guests have great fun playing it. One “boule” in one hand and a glass of wine in the other.
Now, you may ask, what is a game of Pétanque? It is the French version of Bocce Ball. The difference is that the balls are made of metal and they are thrown up in the air to get as close as possible to the “jack”( small wooden ball ) . It is usually played in teams of 2 but you can also play one on one.
This game is traditionally played in the south of France on the main plaza as close as possible to the Café’s terrace so the player can indulge in their favorite aperitifs, Pastis, as they play.
Here at St Supery it is even better, you can have either a white or a red wine to sip while you play, surrounded by beautiful grounds.
So, come on down for great wines, a nice game of Pétanque in the middle of the beautiful Napa Valley.
