Many of us working at St. Supéry are to some degree Francophiles and a significant subset of those people are major shoppers, so we put together a list of our favorite shopping spots in Paris, in case you’re headed there soon and want to check them out. Bon shopping!
- Favorite Tea Shop (and Museum) – Mariage Frères, 30 rue du Bourg-Tibourg, 4th
- Favorite Old books-prints browsing – the bouquinistes de la Seine (sidewalk bookstalls near St. Michel on both banks of the river)
- Favorite French Specialty Foods – Fauchon, 24 place de la Madeleine, Paris 8th
- Favorite Department Store – Galeries Lafayette, 40 Bld. Haussmann, 9th
- Favorite French Bread – Poilâne 8, rue du Cherche-Midi, 6th
- Favorite Kitchen Store – Dehillerin, 18 rue Coquillière, 1st (restaurant quality copper pots)
- Favorite Street Snack – crepes (on any corner in the student quarter in 5th)
- Favorite Children’s Clothing – Du Pareil Au Même several locations
- Favorite Metro Station – Cité, near the bird market close to Notre Dame and Sainte Chapelle
- Favorite Historic Church – Sainte Chapelle Favorite River Cruise – Vedettes du Pont-Neuf, west tip of Ile de la Cité
- Favorite Park – Jardins du Luxembourg, 6th (inspiration for St. Supéry’s new ‘parc’)
- Favorite People Watching – any sidewalk table in a Champs Elysées café
- Favorite Market Street – Rue Mouffetard, 5th Favorite Window Shopping – St. Germain boutiques, also Avenue Montaigne (Chanel, et al)
- Favorite Café – Café de Flore (boutique next door with Limoges, etc.) 172 Bld. Saint-Germain, 7th
- Favorite Ice Cream - Glacier Berthillon, 29-31 rue Saint Louis en l'ile, 4th
- Favorite One-stop-shopping - Colette: 213 Rue St-Honoré; 1st for art, clothes, beauty, gourmet delights
