History
In 1986, the Skalli family acquired an historic 56-acre vineyard and house in the celebrated Rutherford appellation of the Napa Valley. Situated on the St. Helena Highway (29) between Oakville and Rutherford, this property is situated in one of Napa Valley's most respected appellations for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
This estate vineyard is also home to our winery where we welcome guests year round, and the historic the 1882 Atkinson House
Microclimate
The nearly level property is comprised of deep, mineral-rich alluvial soils of sandy clay loam which drain very well. This allows the grapevine's root system to probe deep into the soil to mine for nutrients and water which yields complex and concentrated flavors in the fruit.
Warm sunny days as the grapes are maturing and cool nights resulting in morning fog help retain the rich fruit character of the grape. The 35 planted acres are dedicated to Bordeaux varieties, mostly Cabernet Sauvignon, some Merlot and a small parcel of Petit Verdot. These grapes are picked at full maturity: the resulting wines eventually comprise St. Supéry Élu red
meritage and our Rutherford
Cabernet Sauvignon.
