2021 St. Supéry RU3 Rutherford, Napa Valley

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon RU3 is based on 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot that was raised in 77% new French oak. It has a sensational nose of pure cassis and blueberry fruit intermixed with notions of sappy herbs, chocolaty oak, graphite, and crushed stone. This full-bodied 2021 has the vintage’s concentrated, structured style while still bringing a wealth of opulence, richness, and texture. It’s a gorgeous effort that has so much to love. It should shed its baby fat with 4-6 years of bottle age and, I suspect, have 20-30 years of prime drinking. -JD

2021 St. Supéry Dollarhide Estate Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Dollarhide Estate Vineyard checks in as 100% varietal that spent 19 months in 63% new French oak. It has a complex, spicy perfume of blue fruits, cedar pencil, and spring flowers, as well as nicely integrated oak, medium to full body, a concentrated, nicely structured mouthfeel, and outstanding length. Drink bottles over the coming 10-12 years. -JD
