Winemaker’s Notes
A wine of intense purity and character, opening with concentrated green citrus, grapefruit, white peach, a savory note of caper, floral, and flinty wet stone aromatics. Richly layered with bright acid structure and high-toned mineral notes on the palate. The wine fills the senses with perfumed Kaffir lime, lemon zest, gooseberry, a hint of wildflower honey, and an appealing passion fruit thread in the satisfying finish.
This limited, winery exclusive wine marks the inaugural release from St. Supéry’s Rutherford Estate Sauvignon Blanc Vineyard. To celebrate the winery’s partnership with Fed By Blue, an ocean sustainability advocacy organization, $2 from each bottle sold from the 2023 vintage will be donated to Fed By Blue. Winemaking
The 2023 growing season was entirely about patience. A long, wet winter and spring filled our lakes and nourished the soils. With the cooler start to the season, budbreak was several weeks behind average. Canopy management was vital to veraison, which occurred in mid to late July. A longer hang time allowed the fruit to catch optimum ripening, creating a superb vintage with bright, fresh white wines that show varietal flavors and textures. After achieving the desired flavors on the vine, fruit was harvested in the cool morning hours to preserve the delicate flavors. Once in the cellar, grapes were pressed to tank and immediately chilled and settled. Fermentation was completed in steel and concrete tanks as well as seasoned French oak barrels. The final blend was completed after 5 months of sur-lies maturation.
