Celebrating Everyday Heroes.

A core value at St. Supéry is sharing joy - in our homes, in our daily lives, and at those special occasions with those we hold dear. This Fall, we are sharing the stories of those bringing joy to their own communities. So many are doing good things and making their world a better place without seeking recognition.

Let's celebrate these everyday heroes.

Lupe has sat on the Education and Family Services committees and now serves on the organization’s Board of Directors, a body of elected parents committed to the development of the whole child, educationally, socially and emotionally. A mother herself, Lupe brings her experience and advocacy to every meeting to ensure the programs best meet the needs of its low-income families.

With over 1,076 children served through this program, Lupe believes that the strength of the community starts with our children and the support we provide, including access to programs that will enhance their development, learning and well-being.

Although many volunteer efforts were stopped during the pandemic, Lupe continued, along with other members, meeting virtually to continue their work. Prior to the pandemic, Lupe joined a group of other volunteers to participate in an 8-week effort to help parents and children grow their own vegetable garden at Chandon winery. Each Saturday, the parents and their children showed up to first plant the seeds, and then transfer them to the growing plot. At the conclusion of the program, the group of volunteers harvested the vegetables for a meal that they all shared together with the Chandon team.

Lupe offers to help whenever Child Start needs her and continues to be an advocate for her children as they transition into the public school setting.

Debbie nominated an Everyday Hero, Lupe Hernandez, for #EverydayHero #InJoy @Stsupery to celebrate their volunteer contributions to and #givingback.
