Celebrating Everyday Heroes.

A core value at St. Supéry is sharing joy - in our homes, in our daily lives, and at those special occasions with those we hold dear. This Fall, we are sharing the stories of those bringing joy to their own communities. So many are doing good things and making their world a better place without seeking recognition.

Let's celebrate these everyday heroes.

In 2019, Chef Ken and his team at Napa Valley’s La Toque restaurant began donating hot lunches once a month for the South Napa Shelter and Day Center, which provides essential services to homeless individuals, including showers, meals, laundry, medical services, and housing assistance.

When the pandemic hit, shutting down Ken’s kitchens and shuttering local restaurants, Ken reached out to the SNDC to help keep the lunch program going. Partnering with South Napa Shelter, Ken raised money to pay for supplies and ingredients, and he and his remaining staff donated their time to cook lunch for the program five days a week until restaurants could reopen. Ken continues to provide lunch for 60 guests at the South Napa Day Center twice each week.

“I first started feeding the homeless at the back door of the original La Toque on the Sunset Strip back in the 1980s,” Ken says. “I couldn’t turn people away knowing that we could help them so easily. No one in our great country should go hungry. I have been extraordinarily lucky and find myself in a position to give back.”

Ken’s meals have become the anchor of the Day Center’s lunch service, because he innately understands that providing healthy meals to our homeless neighbors is about more than keeping people fed; it gives them a sense of dignity and nourishes them with hope.

Wendi nominated an Everyday Hero, Ken Frank, for #EverydayHero #InJoy @Stsupery to celebrate their volunteer contributions to and #givingback.
