Yasmine exemplifies joy, compassion and the bold spirit of Girls on the Run (GOTR) Napa & Solano, a program for 8- to 13-year-old girls that promotes empowerment and teaches life skills through experiential activities, engaging discussions and running or movement. As a GOTR life coach, Yasmine mentors girls at Laurel Creek Elementary in Fairfield. With her exuberant spirit, kind heart and leadership, she not only inspires the children she works with, but others in the community.

With four daughters of her own, Yasmine was initially drawn to the group four years ago as a way to empower her girls, give them confidence, and help them develop healthy habits. Learning that GOTR was looking for volunteers, she jumped at the chance. “I genuinely love helping others,” she says. “Besides being with my daughters, my greatest joy has been in inviting their friends to join and hearing from my mom friends how much fun they are having. I especially love seeing the shy girls in the program become brave enough to talk and share.”

During the pandemic last year, Yasmine—or “Youthful Yasmine,” as she is known within GOTR—continued to work safely outdoors with girls at a Fairfield park. She also reached out to other local families to bring new girls into the group.

Yasmine also volunteers with her family for organizations including We Love Our City, The Father’s House, and Liberty Church, and is always looking for new opportunities to serve. “We enjoy giving back to the community and having our children be part of that lifestyle,” she says, “even if it’s just spending time cleaning up litter.”

Janet nominated an Everyday Hero, Yasmine Amparo, for #EverydayHero #InJoy @Stsupery to celebrate their volunteer contributions to and #givingback.
