Nadja is first female African American firefighter hired by the Alameda County Fire Department and second female African American firefighter to serve in that county. Starting as an Emergency Medical Technician in Oakland, California and now as a firefighter, Nadja is always on call to serve and respond.

Nadja volunteers with Bay Area Youth EMT, Youth Uprising as well as events within Alameda County Fire Department such as Black History “Chief Is My Belief!, an event with Chief Randall West created to highlight some of the legacies of African-American Firefighters. During Black History Month, Nadja visits elementary schools to inspire the youth of tomorrow.

“The kids were able to learn about firefighters in the bay area and a little bit about the culture and how firefighters started out. We had a lot of fun, covered a lot of information and look forward to doing it again next year” states Nadja after a visit to an Alameda County school.
