Tasting Notes
This incredibly structured Cabernet Sauvignon showcases shades of purple and red. Aromas of blackberry and currant blend with subtle notes of berry undertones and mocha followed by a sweet vanillin oak flavor. The 2014 Dollarhide Elevation has a fine texture with flavors of black currant, toasted oak and a hint of red plum. The lengthy finish is noted with nuances of mocha and fine-grained tannins.
Technical Note
Winemaking
In 2014, we experienced a continuation of the drought in Napa Valley and reduced snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Our vineyards saw the first significant rainfall of the year in February, bringing a welcome soak of eight inches that helped replenish thirsty water reserves. While March gave us some additional rain, the growing season remained dry. May was warm, leading to a hot June with the heat continuing through early October at the height of harvest. In the cool morning hours, the grapes were harvested by hand and brought to the winery where they were hand sorted. Warm fermentation temperatures along with gentle cap maceration helped achieve the desired color and structure for the wine before an extended maceration time on the skins.

Accolades
93 Points, James Suckling – This is very intense and chewy with lots of chocolate, spice and berry character. Hints of walnuts. Full body, layered and very long. Cabernet sauvignon with a hint of malbec.
92 Points, Robert Parker – A blend of 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Malbec, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Dollarhide Elevation shows plenty of blueberry, blackberry, black and red currant and hefty, spicy oak. It is round, juicy, opulent and sexy. This is another beauty to drink over the next 15 years. It is absolutely irresistible now.
