St. Supéry Chronicles Spring 2025

A Quarterly Newsletter

Welcome to Spring and our latest edition of the St. Supéry Chronicles. Spring flowers and cover crops are plentiful this season due to ample rain followed by warm sunshine. We have enjoyed having sheep at our Dollarhide Estate to naturally graze down the grasses between the vine rows and surrounding areas. With early bud break at Dollarhide in our Malbec and now Sauvignon Blanc, we said farewell to the sheep last week until their return next season. Spring bud break is also being found in the Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc in our Rutherford vineyards with more activity expected as the mild temperatures continue into April.

To greet spring, we are preparing Chef Vince Sanchez’s Green Beans with Almonds paired with the winery-exclusive release of our 2023 Dollarhide Estate Vineyard Cold Concrete Fermented Sauvignon Blanc. The 2022 vintage of this wine was a Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines recipient. A perfect pairing to welcome Share & Pairing Sundays with friends. We invite you to prepare the recipe and tag @stsupery for a chance to be featured in our Instagram stories. Additionally, plan a visit to Napa Valley this spring to Share & Pair Sauvignon Blanc and additional wine releases. Through the month of May, we are offering a 2 for 1 tasting on our popular Winemaker Selection and White Wine Experience. When reserving your tasting on Tock, use code SAP2025to take advantage of this promotion and Share & Pair with us – especially on Sundays!

April is Earth Month, though here at St. Supéry, we celebrate Mother Earth every day. Look to our social media profiles for frequent updates around our sustainability efforts, Napa Green certifications, International Wineries for Climate Action Silver membership, and practical ways everyone can take part in climate smart actions. St. Supéry’s sustainability efforts also include involvement with the North Bay Zero Waste Collective to recycle stretch film through TREX who will then repurpose the plastic wrap into decking materials. St. Supéry acts as a staging area for nearby wineries and businesses to drop off their stretch film for recycling, baling, and deliver to a warehouse for final pick up. It has been a grassroots movement with tireless work from our own Brooke Shenk, and other Collective members. St. Supéry staff have also been educated on which items are recyclable and bring their own household recycling to the winery. To date, our community has recycled 20,000 pounds of plastic stretch film with more expected in 2025.

Until our Summer newsletter, we hope you make time to gather with friends and family for delicious wine and food paired with laughter and good cheer. Napa Valley is filled with spring blossoms and the first real hint of warm weather. Join us at the Rutherford estate to savor the latest wine releases and take a stroll through our demonstration vineyard and gardens this spring.

Green Beans with Almonds

Enjoy with our Sauvignon Blancs this spring and summer.

green beans on plate

Ingredients:

½ lb. large green beans, preferably Blue Lake or Romano
2 large shallots
2-3 large garlic cloves
¾ cup sliced almonds
50-50 blend of olive oil and grapeseed or other neutral oil
Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Directions:

DIRECTIONS
The key to success with this recipe is to have all your ingredients prepped before you begin cooking. Prepare the beans by trimming off the hard stem ends and cut them in half diagonally. Peel the shallots, cut off the root ends, and slice evenly lengthwise. Using a small mandolin or very sharp knife, slice the garlic into thin slices—though not paper-thin, as you don’t want them to burn.
