2023 Napa Valley Harvest Begins

Napa Valley’s First Sauvignon Blanc

August 2023

St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery among the first to begin 2023 Napa Valley harvest.

St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery is excited to announce the first pick of its 2023 Napa Valley harvest season! Just before midnight on August 15th, the winery’s vineyard team gathered at Dollarhide Estate Vineyard in northeastern Napa Valley for the harvesting of Sauvignon Blanc from three different blocks of the Napa Green certified St. Supéry estate property.

Throughout the cool, pre-dawn hours of August 16th, the team hand-picked 19 tons of Sauvignon Blanc for delivered to the winery in Rutherford, Napa Valley. A staff toast commenced, followed by fruit processing.

The 2023 growing season began with a long, cold, wet winter that persisted late into the year. This caused the phenological events (bud break, flowering, fruit set, bunch closure, version) of the vine to be later and therefore a later start to the harvest. With the cool growing season, Napa Valley is experiencing a slower paced, even ripening year, with intensity and depth of flavor in the fruit.

Please join us in raising a glass to the 2023 Napa Valley harvest and vintage!
